Kathleen Marie "Kay" Hanley is an American singer who has done work for the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
History[]
Hanley was the guitarist and lead singer in the alternative rock band Letters to Cleo from 1990 to 2000. She is best known as the vocalist for the alternative rock band Letters to Cleo.
In 2003, Hanley was approached by Jun Senoue from Sega to co-write and perform on an original song for the then-upcoming Sonic Heroes. The result was the song "Follow Me", the theme of Team Rose. She would later also sing the song "The Happy Ride" for Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll.
Beyond her work with Sega, Hanley has done numerous projects for other franchises. She wrote music for the 2000's Kids WB series, Generation O!, as well as sang and co-wrote the soundtrack for the 2001 film Josie & The Pussycats. Recently, she has wrote music for animated shows including DC Super Hero Girls and Doc McStuffins. Hanley currently serves as a co-executive director for the non-profit group Songwriters of North America, which advocates for fair rights management and pay for songwriters.
