Information in this article is about real-life people, companies, and objects, which do not relate to the in-universe Sonic series.

Ken Penders was a writer/artist for the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics for many years up until Sonic the Hedgehog #160, where upon he was succeeded as the primary writer for the series by Ian Flynn.

Recently, there has been a civil dispute between Penders and Archie/Sega/EA, which ended circa mid-2013 in a stalemate. As a result of the dispute, Penders has taken several Archie characters that he created, such as Lien-Da, Julie-Su, Lara-Su and Dimitri, for his new series, The Lara-Su Chronicles.  The dispute led to massive storyline changes and a large number of characters being banned from the comics, much to the dismay of many fans.

Drawing Career

Penders is the creator of many of the comic exclusive characters that populate the series. He also designed the cover art to the Sonic the Hedgehog full series DVD box set.
