Knothole Island is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a island on Mobius in an alternate zone and is home to this zone's populace of Mobians (later mutated mobians) who serve as the island's local wildlife.
Knothole Island was used as a testing area by Dr. J. Kintobor where the doctor experimented with a Chaos Emerald in hopes of harnessing its Chaotomic energy. However, the experiment resulted in a fallout that mutated the mobians inhabiting Knothole Island into colossal and rampaging monsters of incredible might who would leave their island to attack the Overlanders of Kintopolis.
When Sonic the Hedgehog came to this zone to aid against the monster attacks, Sonic traveled to Knothole Island in the Giant Robotno to find the lost halves of the Chaos Emeralds so Kintobor could power his automaton defenses. However, he quickly came under attack by the island's inhabitants who he found hard to fight against due to both the Giant Robotno draining his strength and that he was facing the counterpart of his friends back. However, when Jules-Zilla appeared, with half of the Chaos Emerald embedded in him, Sonic accidentally ripped the Emerald out of Jules-Zilla when refusing to fight him, killing him instantly. Sonic then left Knothole Island in anguish while Sonic-Zilla appeared to see his father dead.
