Levitation is one of the most basic uses of Silver's psychokinetic powers. When using Levitate, Silver uses his psychokinesis to move his own body through midair, granting him flight. When in flight, Silver can move himself at extreme speeds, nearing those that Sonic the Hedgehog can run at, and give himself a general advantage in a fitting situation.
The drawback of Levitate is that its performance is tied to Silver's own stamina and concentration. If he should start to wear out from overuse of his psychokinesis or lose concentration, it would cause Levitate to end and Silver to fall down.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
In Sonic the Hedgehog, Levitate could be used by pressing the jump button while Silver is already in mid-air. Silver will activate Psychokinesis and remain aloft for a short time. Silver will drop to the ground when his Action Gauge reaches zero. Silver can also move around in mid-air while Levitating to reach otherwise inaccessible locations. Silver can likewise Levitate on objects while he is standing on it by pressing the R1/RT button while he is on top of it.
Silver is first seen using Levitate in the first cutscene of his story in Sonic the Hedgehog, using it indefinitely though, while investigating the Flames of Disaster and later on, levitating at top speed to go find Iblis.
In his Super State, Super Silver can Levitate without the use of his Psychokinesis, and without tiring. However, this is an ability which most Super States already possessed.
In Sonic Rivals, Silver cannot use Levitate in gameplay, but he levitates when doing his victory movement after finishing an Act.
Sonic Rivals 2
In Sonic Rivals 2, like in Sonic Rivals, Silver cannot use Levitate in gameplay, but he levitates when doing his victory movement after finishing a Stage.
Sonic and the Black Knight
Sir Galahad can also use the ability in Sonic and the Black Knight. It is usable during gameplay, serving as his substitute for the Jump Dash. it can be used be repeatedly. Galahad can be seen using it during his victory pose, after a Battle.
When fighting against Silver in Sonic Generations, he is levitating the entire time, which requires Sonic to use the Homing Attack on other levitating objects to reach him.
