Madmeano from Sonic the Comic #96. Art by Andy Pritchett.

Madmeano is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. He was a diminutive ferret and an old enemy of the Zed Monkeys.

He used a foam rubber monkey suit (size 18) to pose as the Zed Monkeys' large, bodybuilding mentor "Professor Zed", and convinced them to spend an hour every day at 10 o'clock posing and flexing their muscles. This allowed Madmeano's criminal friends (such as the Yob) to commit crimes without the Zed Monkeys' interference. He was eventually revealed as a fraud by Sonic the Hedgehog and arrested by the police.[1]

  • Madmeano is loosely based on the Marvel Comics super-villain Magneto, an enemy of the superhero team known as the X-Men. In particular, Madmeano's helmet and cape are a direct reference to Magneto's costume in the comics.
    • In addition, the name of Madmeano's alter ego, Professor Zed, is a reference to the X-Men's mentor Professor X.
