Manbou[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, sunfish-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Being Badniks that are based on ocean sunfishes, the Manbous are mainly colored blue with white underbellies, a large dorsal fin and anal fins. They also have orange snorkel mouths, a small periscope on their head, round plates on each side of their body, and an orange propeller engine on their rear.

Overview[]

In the Wii U and PC version of Sonic Lost World, the Manbous appear as enemies. In gameplay, they are only found in the underwater sections of Tropical Coast Zone 1. When the player swims through these sections using the Yellow Drill, these Badnika will initially float in stationary positions. When they spot the player however, the Manbous begin moving in lateral directions while carrying a line of sea mines known as Kiaris right behind them in an attempt to damage the player.

While using the Yellow Drill, the player can easily destroy a Manbou by dashing through it. While doing this however, the player should avoid getting hit by their Kiaris. Like with most Badniks in the game, the Manbous will release an Animal upon their destruction.

Trivia[]

  • Like with many new enemies in Sonic Lost World, the Manbou's name has not been listed in any official source. Instead, it is referred to as "manbou" in the game's source code.
  • The Manbou's name comes from the Japanese word for the ocean sunfish, "manbou" (翻車魚?).

References[]

  1. In the files of the Wii U and PC version of Sonic Lost World, this enemy is simply referred to as "enm_manbou."
