Marketa (マルケッタ Maruketta?) is a human resident of Holoska who appears in Sonic Unleashed. She is the daughter of Sarianna and Jari-Thure. Marketa is friendly and very eager to learn about Sonic's adventures and travels, possibly due the fact that she grows up in an isolated area, which often makes her a little too excited. She is aware of her mother's harsh treatment of her father, but understands that it is only because she likes to take charge of things.

Growing up in her small village, Marketa often saw her parents, Jari-Thure and Sarianna, arguing, with her father being the target of her mother's sometimes unreasonable demands. Nevertheless, Marketa could see that her parents actually in truth got along well, and understood that her mother just had a very dominating personality. Presumably, due to seeing her father trying to fulfill her mother's requests and still go on, Marketa came to want marrying a man who could take a lot of abuse, like her father.
At some point in her life, Marketa was told not to go into the local Entrance Stage as it was too dangerous.
During the events of Sonic Unleashed, after the Earth was shattered due to Dark Gaia's awakening, Marketa met Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip when they first came to her village. Happy to meet these new faces, Marketa introduced herself to the duo and offered Sonic to ask her about what he wanted to know about Holoska and that she would help him with information anytime. When Sonic asked about the village, Marketa told him about how it always snowed the whole year in Holoska, how their houses were made of snow, that they used ski and bobsleds to move around and the different sea animals. When Sonic afterwards asked Marketa about the people in the village, Marketa happily told him that she was related to everyone in the village. She explained that they lived by fishing and that her father was a master fisherman and that her grandmother "sells stuff".
Marketa later witnessed Sonic and Chip returning from the local Entrance Stage. Surprised that they came out of there alive, Marketa, full of eager curiosity, began asking Sonic about what was in there. Realizing, however, that she got carried away in her questioning, Marketa apologized and admitted her mistake. A little while later, after seeing that Sonic had met her parents, Marketa explained their unique relationship to him.
Some time later, Marketa met up with Sonic and Chip again. Having noticed Sonic's quills, but having mistook them for hair, Marketa asked Sonic why his hair was blue and spiky. Sonic then explained to Marketa that he was a hedgehog, and Marketa understood that his quills was not hair after all. A little while later, Marketa was told by her father that Sonic and Chip were bringing the shattered Earth back together. When Marketa later met Sonic and Chip again, the young girl told the duo what she had heard from her father and that she had no idea the planet could come apart and stick together like that. Marketa then told Sonic and Chip that they were amazing for doing that and eagerly asked how they did it. However, Marketa then caught herself being too excited again and apologized.
When Sonic and Chip later came to Holoska again, Marketa met up with the duo once more. Noticing something different about Sonic, Marketa told Sonic that she thought he look stronger than before and wondered why.
When Sonic and Chip only had one continent left to restore, Marketa met up with Sonic and Chip again when they came back to Holoska. Having heard rumors about the state of the world, Marketa told the duo that she had heard that things were coming to a head and asked them if the rumors were true. She then told Sonic and Chip that she wished them good luck and that she would be sending them good thoughts.
Marketa later watched on in horror with the rest of her village, as Dark Gaia began to cast the world into darkness, but rejoiced as the world returned to normal following Perfect Dark Gaia's defeat at the hands of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus.

During the events of Sonic Unleashed, after the Earth was torn apart by Dark Gaia, Marketa met Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip when they first came to Holoska. After introducing herself, Marketa told the duo they could ask her anything about the village. Having noticed a man hiding in the lumber yard, Sonic asked Marketa why he did that. Marketa explained that it had to be her father who trying to hide from her mother, Sarianna, who wanted him to do chores he did not want to do. As Sonic asked if it were some kind of scary chores, Marketa said that while she did not know that, she knew that her father was kind of a fraidy cat. She then explained that she felt bad for him though, and asked Sonic not to tell her mother where her father was as she did not want her father to lose face with her mother.
A while later, Marketa met up with Sonic and Chip again. Remarking how cold it was in Holoska, Marketa told Sonic and Chip that it was a little warmer while the sun is up. Marketa then heard from the duo that they searching the world for Chip's memory. Willing to help, Marketa gave Sonic and Chip Soundtrack 36, though she was not sure it would help or not.
Some time afterwards, at night, Marketa met Sonic and Chip once more, who came to her. Following their encounter, Marketa told them that she, for some reason, thought that things seem kind of weird after dark, so she tried not to go out at night. Marketa then thanked Sonic and Chip for visiting her, as she was feeling lonely and gave them Soundtrack 37 to say thank you. Afterwards, Marketa remarked how cold it was at night in Holoska as well, before saying that it was a good thing Sonic wearing a fur coat in his Werehog form and asked if she could feel it as it looked warm.
