The Marvelous Queen (マーベラスクイーン Māberasu Kuīn?) is Fang the Sniper's airbike and way of transportation in Sonic the Hedgehog series. He uses it frequently because he lacks the speed to get out of trouble by his own means.
The Marvelous Queen has moderately strong armor and a blue-and-yellow colored hull.
Sonic Triple Trouble
The Marvelous Queen's first appearance was in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, when Fang used it as boss vehicle. When the player has passed through labyrinthine platforming section or collected enough amount of Rings from the sky with Tornado, the timer will stop and the player will face Fang with his Marvelous Queen as mini bosses in the end of each Special Stage.
Like Dr. Robotnik's Egg Mobile, the Marvelous Queen comes with a variety of attachments that Nack uses against Sonic or Tails to protect the Chaos Emerald located to the fair right. When the player has destroyed the attachment, Nack escapes to return in the next Special Stage. He seem to have more than one Marvelous Queen, since all of them explode into nothingness upon Nack's defeat.
|1st (Blue Emerald)||None. Nack jumps on a switch and laughs, only to get himself burned seconds later by flames coming from underneath him, much to his embarrassment. He then clumsily leaves the arena.|
|2nd (Red Emerald)||The Marvelous Queen is properly introduced with a spring attached underneath it. Nack pilots it as it bounces around the arena. To defeat it, the player has to hit it sixteen times.|
|3rd (Yellow Emerald)||Having no attachments this time around, Nack simply dashes left and right across the arena on the Marvelous Queen to swooping into the player. The player can beat this boss with three hits.|
|4th (White Emerald)||Nack launches a homing missile from underneath the Marvelous Queen and then hovers around in the middle of the arena. The missile will fly around the room. The player can hit Nack numerous times, although the missile will eventually home in on the Marvelous Queen and defeat Nack.|
|5th (Orange Emerald)||The Marvelous Queen has a drill attachment, while Nack keeps hovering above the player. The Marvelous Queen will eventually drop to the ground, for then to hover up again and repeat the pattern. It is at this point the player can attack Nack. On the third strike, the Marvelous Queen gets stuck in the ground, allowing the player to keep bopping on Nack until he and the Marvelous Queen are buried in the ground.|
Sonic Drift 2
Fang also uses the Marvelous Queen as his racing vehicle in Sonic Drift 2, albeit with a slightly different design. It has good speed and acceleration, but poor handling.
|Fang the Sniper||Marvelous Queen||The ability to toss Oil Balls onto the track, which cause any racers that drive over them to slip, lose control, and eventually spin out.|
In other media
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Marvelous Queen originally only barely resembled its game counterpart, although they came to look much more like each other after the continuity was rebooted. In this media, the Marvelous Queen is Nack the Weasel previous hover-bike and a vehicle often employed by both Nack and his team, the Hooligans.
- The Marvelous Queen is the earliest example of an airbike in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, possible serving as inspiration for Extreme Gear.
- The Marvelous Queen is first named in the manual for Sonic Drift 2, as in the Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble manual, Nack's airbike is written as "flying bike" (飛ぶバイク tobubike?). In the Japanese Sonic Drift 2 manual, it is instead called an "aerobike" (エアロバイク?).
