Masato Nakamura (中村 正人 Nakamura Masato?) is a Japanese musician and record producer, and bassist and founder of the Japanese band Dreams Come True. He composed the soundtracks for the first two games of the Sonic the Hedgehog series.[citation needed] He has also provided the voice of Champ in the Japanese dub of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.[1]
History[]
Nakamura was originally a session musician before forming the "Cha-Cha & Audrey's Project" with Miwa Yoshida.[citation needed] In 1988, they formed the band Dreams Come True, then in July 2002 they founded the record company DCT Records and now serve as executive producers.[citation needed] In 22 June 2008, Nakamura married Mākii, the former lead vocalist of the rock/metal band High and Mighty Color.[citation needed] Nakamura composes many and arranges almost all the songs for Dreams Come True, and has composed music for television commercials.[citation needed]
While Nakamura created the soundtracks for Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, financial disagreements caused his involvement with the soundtrack for Sonic 3 & Knuckles to be dropped in favour of Michael Jackson, Sega's in-house musicans, and other musicians.[citation needed] Despite this, Nakamura's original Sonic compositions are still used in later games such as Sonic Advance, the Super Smash Bros. series, Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania.
