The episode starts with a boat, the M.S.S. Gigantic, travelling through choppy green water during a nasty thunder storm. Inside the ship, we see a crewmember tell Captain Finny that there are icebergs up ahead. Finny tells him to not worry and that he was ready for them. and slid to a telephone. Finny told the the crew that there were icebergs up ahead and asks them to send up their secret weapon. After a crew member asks Finny if he should slow down the ship, but before he can answer, Sonic and Tails come through a door. Sonic and Tails came out the door dancing and wearing sailor suits. Finny tells the crew member that Sonic was their secret weapon and he brought him along to help get through those icebergs. Sonic, eager to help, asks to be pointed in the right direction so he can "buzz saw those icebergs into snow cones". Looking ahead, Sonic sees a lighthouse in front of them, which Finny tells Sonic is called "Lighthouse 1" and that it's the most important lighthouse on Mobius. Just after, the lighthouse's light shuts off, forcing Finny to anchor the ship at sea. Sonic and Tails offer to figure out the problem and they speed off towards the lighthouse. Peering inside the lighthouse, the heroes find the Scottish gull, Angus MacGull, captured by Coconuts. Sonic defeats the robot with a golf ball trick shot while Tails frees Angus. After tying up Coconuts, the trio's victory celebration gets interrupted by a call from the Mobius Intercontinental Airport saying a plane is going to crash. Sonic assures Tails the ship will be saved as long as it's anchored, so they run to the airport hundreds of miles away. Just then, Coconuts frees himself by transforming his tail into a pair of scissors and cutting the rope he was tied up with. He knocks Angus out and he takes a time bomb out of his body, saying he'll plant it in the lighthouse just as Doctor Robotnik ordered.

Sonic, who is already tired after running hundreds of miles, arrives at the airport and meets a cat stewardess who tells him someone took over the control tower and a plane is almost out of fuel and about to crash. The hedgehog quickly makes a whirlwind and brings the plane to the ground safely, causing the stewardess to fall in love with Sonic. After saving the plane, he checks out the control tower, only to find the workers tied up and Scratch escaping through a window. Once again, an important call comes on the radio. This time, the call comes from Mobius' Central Train Control saying a train wreckage is about to happen. An exhausted Sonic and Tails race off to the station, unaware that Scratch had placed a time bomb under a chair in the airport's control tower.

At the Train Control an old Turtle train conductor tells the heroes that a robot took over the switch house at gunpoint and changed the controls so that three trains will crash. The trains almost collide but Sonic builds several loops on the tracks to give each train a separate path. Tails and Sonic enter the switching house to find the switchman tied up as Grounder escapes, telling Robotnik through a communicator that nobody saw him place a time bomb in the switch house. Sonic explains that he's incredibly tired and has to rest. Just as Sonic sits down to rest, Robotnik appears on the monitors behind Sonic, proclaiming that his plan has finally worked because he planted bombs in each of Mobius' most important land, sea, and air complexes. The bombs will all explode in five minutes so his robots can control everyone and Sonic won't be able to stop him. Robotnik explains he had his lackies tire out Sonic and Tails, making them think his robots were the problem, but the bombs they planted were the true threat and that Sonic won't be able to disarm all of them in time. After a commercial break, Sonic discovers one of the bombs in the switching house. Sonic tries to remove the bomb, but its connected to a metal plate on the ground, preventing its removal. Next, Tails wants to smash it with a hammer, but Sonic stops him before he can cause destruction. Finally, Sonic comes up with the idea to run extra fast so that his sneakers become red hot, melting the metal plate and allowing him to take the bomb.

After Sonic saves the station, he runs to the airport. Meanwhile, the S.S.S.S.S. Squad plans to eliminate Sonic with a tripwire. As can be expected, they fail.

As the blue hedgehog arrives at the airport the stewardess gives Sonic her phone number and a metal detector to find the bomb. With the machine's help, Sonic finds the bomb in the control tower and takes it with him, only to notice there's fifteen seconds left to find the third bomb. To reach the other side of the planet, Sonic spins through the ground to reach the lighthouse faster. As Sonic races towards the lighthouse, we see the anchor chain that keeps the M.S.S Gigantic safe break, causing the ship to drift directly towards the icebergs.

Bursting through the ground in Lighthouse 1, Sonic frees Angus and finds the last bomb on top of the building. Taking the bomb, Sonic realizes he's carrying all three bombs with him and they're set to explode in three seconds. Fearing for his survival, he jumps into the ocean and swims as far away as he can before hurling the bombs towards the icebergs, destroying the ice bergs and saving both the ship and Mobius. Happily, our hero attempts to swim back to the ship, but almost drowns because he's so tired. Thankfully, Tails saves him and brings him aboard the M.S.S. Gigantic where he can get a good rest. While Sonic sleeps on a cot, Robotnik appears on monitors in the ship , proclaiming his control over all modes of transportation. That is, until Scratch, Coconuts, and Grounder break the news to Robotnik that his plan failed and Mobius was saved.
