— Master Mogul, Sonic the Hedgehog #150

Master Mogul[1] is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is the Super Form of Mammoth Mogul, achieved not by collecting Chaos Emeralds or Power Rings, but through Mammoth Mogul stealing the Chaos energy from other beings who have been empowered by the Chaos Force.

Appearance[]

Unlike most Super Forms, Master Mogul did not undergo a change in coloring in his first appearance. In his first incarnation, he looks completely identical to his base form, except that his eyes possessed no pupils and had a yellow glow around them. Shortly after assuming his form for the first time, he transformed his usual attire into golden armor which covered the upper half of his torso, with golden shoulder pads, a flowing red cape, a light blue belt with a gold belt buckle and three studded, light blue strings with gold triangles hanging off the buckle, and a red kilt. The second time Mammoth Mogul became Master Mogul, he wore the same outfit and looked identical to his first incarnation, except that he had a green glow around his body, and now had glowing green eyes with several small dots in them and no pupils.

History[]

Immortality is forever... life is finite[]

The first known occasion where Mammoth Mogul achieved his Super Form was after his attack on the Floating Island, when he managed to absorb the Chaos energy within Enerjak through the Sword of Acorns.[2] Despite his incredible power, Master Mogul was subsequently defeated by the combined might of Super Sonic, Hyper Knuckles and Turbo Tails, with side-line assistance from Athair and the Brotherhood of Guardians. Mogul was subsequently trapped inside the newly-formed Master Emerald after his defeat.[1]

The Chosen One[]

Master Mogul reemerged roughly a year later, after stealing the powers of Chaos Knuckles. When Knuckles returned from the afterlife, it allowed Mogul to tap into this power completely, thus restoring his Master Mogul form. Master Mogul then became bent on destroying the multiverse, going from reality to reality and destroying them, including Mobius-Seventeen.[3] However, after Zonic brought together all the various versions of Miles "Tails" Prower, the Prime version of Tails, using his power as the "Chosen One", fused with all his alternate selves to form Titan Tails, and defeated Master Mogul. Titan Tails then undid everything Master Mogul had done and returned the multiverse to normal.[4]

Powers and abilities[]

As Master Mogul, Mammoth Mogul's innate talents are increased to god-like levels. The first time Mogul became Master Mogul, he achieved his transformation by draining the powers of Enerjak, giving him the power of twelve Chaos Emeralds. The second time, he assumed his Master Mogul form by draining the power of Chaos Knuckles, and was able to assume complete command of the Chaos Force.

In his Super form, Master Mogul possesses vastly increased strength, speed, and reflexes, being fast enough to land a hit on Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles, and strong enough to send them both flying backwards with a single strike. Additionally, he is able to fly and possesses incredible durability, able to endure several blows from Super Sonic, Hyper Knuckles, and Turbo Tails. Master Mogul also retains his base form's Ixis Magicks, allowing him to manipulate elements, such as manipulating earth by causing a stony head to rise from the ground and try to bite his enemies. His psychic powers have also increased dramatically, to the point that his telekinesis is strong enough for him to move Angel Island. Mogul’s Chaos powers have also been enhanced, to the point that he can banish people to another dimension, create a force-field made of Chaos energy durable enough to withstand a punch from Turbo Tails, and fire Chaos energy attacks which are powerful enough to harm Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles. Mogul was able to unleash a surge of Chaos energy from the Chaos Emerald embedded in his chest, channel beams or waves of Chaos energy through an object like his staff, or fire multiple energy beams from his hands. He has also shown the power to manipulate matter, such as transforming his usual outfit into golden armor with a cape, belt, and kilt, and turning ground into quicksand. Master Mogul also possesses omniscience, being able to see and hear everything in the universe, and even other dimensions. He is also able to use his powers to affect things in other dimensions without leaving the dimension he is currently in.[1]

The second time Mammoth Mogul assumed this form, with the power of the entire Chaos Force, he was powerful enough to easily overwhelm the Zone Cops' entire corps. He was so powerful, that he was even able to destroy an entire Zone of the multiverse by crushing it with his hand. Zonic claimed that Master Mogul would also be capable of creating his own Zones. He also demonstrated the ability to grow to a colossal size,[3] and in addition to firing beams of Chaos energy from his hands and from the Chaos Emerald in his chest, he could fire beams of energy from his eyes, too.[4]

Trivia[]

  • Master Mogul was the first instance of a comics-exclusive villain achieving a super form; he would be followed by A.D.A.M. and Scourge the Hedgehog.
