Since none of the other bureaucrats have seemed to notice and are online right now, I thought I'd inform you of the fact that Strife237, formerly known as Murphyshane, still holds administrator rights and is a blocked user (and has been blocked for months now). This could result in a very problematic situation if it doesn't get fixed. Thanks.
Hello Supermorff, it is me, Ultrasonic9000. I am writing this because since you made the Gallery start and end templates, I thought you were the person I could ask you of something slightly big.
As of now, you probably know, the timeline in the Archie Comics has been split in two, with their own events and history. However, recent news has revealed that the events of Worlds Collide happened in both timelines with the events occurring being practically the same. However, due to the subjects in Worlds Collide on Sonic's side being split according to timelines, that would mean that articles with "middle ground" in the crossover would have to have links leading to both incarnations of the characters. For example:
Ergo, this is about two links occupying the same sentence/link, which is kind of a pickle. We could duplicate those articles, but I think it would be ridiculous if it is only for the links, and even then this can not be done for the Mega Man characters because they are outside the Pre- and Post-SGW concept.
Since you came up with the Gallery start and end templates, I thought that maybe you could design or come up with a template similar to the image in this section: when clicking on the link, such a box would pop up and give the reader the option between links leading to the two different timeline incarnations of the subject. I know it may be a little complex, but it is the best solution I could come up with.
Hey Ultrasonic, I only just saw this message. Have you sorted this issue out? I'm not entirely sure what you're looking for, and must confess that I'm very rusty on Wiki markup.
The link in the image you shared is part of the reference functionality in MediaWiki, and I have no idea how to replicate that in a template. What you could do, though, is a collapsible table, ideally an in-line table, that opens when you click on what looks like the link. Inside would be the "real" links to the two different timelines.
This does veer slightly into hiding the site's functionality from its users, and it would require extra clicks for a lot of people searching for Archie stuff, so I wouldn't recommend using it widely. Surely it's better to link to whichever version was appropriate in the time when the link relates to?
The problem is that the exact same thing complies for the characters and events. It is like Worlds Collide retold in the other timeline. So, one were to look up the events, it would lead to the pre-SGW subject, when it is actually referring to the Post-SGW.
Thanks for responding anyway. I guess another solution must be found, though I have no idea how to do it. You are welcome to suggest ideas.
Greetings, Supermorff, haven't seen you for while. I came across a particularly large problem related to Sonic the Hedgehog manga published by Shogakukan. I have collected every possible serial story that has been found and translated to english. Aside of Shogaku Ninensei stories, I cannot find any evidence or source for release dates of rest of serial stories especially for Shogaku Gonensei and CoroCoro Comic Special ones. Do you know any source or site where these release dates or magazine issues has been listed for these?
I was wondering if you know about those release dates, but I suppose it's kinda impossible now. I try to research evidences for those several weeks ago from Manga.Portalsonic.com (the place where those translated manga scans are from) by using Wayback Machine, but not many of scans are anymore available or are simply broken, making unclear to reconize any of release dates of those serial stories.
