The Metal Destructix[1] are a group that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a group of robots all based on the roboticized versions of the Destructix members.

History[]

Agent of K.N.O.T.H.O.L.E. and Anonymous[]

The Metal Destructix are first alluded to when "Tommy Turtle" (actually an Auto Automaton) tells Sonic that Eggman had discovered a way to counteract the Bem's mass de-roboticization of the planet Mobius, claiming that he had sent roboticized versions of the Fearsome Foursome and Drago Wolf to capture him. As if on cue, the group (plus a robotic version of Sleuth "Doggy" Dawg) proceeded to attack the bar they were in. While Sonic holds the Fearsome Foursome off by taunting them and tricking them into attacking each other, "Drago" and "Sleuth" would corner "Tommy". Sonic would knock out the other members, only to find that the remaining two were gone. Tommy claims he reprogrammed them to jump into the nearest lake, though Drago's remains are seen underneath the table as they're heading back to Knothole.[2]

In reality, however, Eggman had no idea about the Metal Destructix, only learning about them after they are found outside New Megaopolis by a SWATbot patrol. Having his A.I. "son" A.D.A.M. scan Drago's memories, Eggman realizes that whoever created them altered their memories to conceal their identity. A.D.A.M. tries to decode the information, but fails: all he can find is a split second, censored image of the culprit and a name left in the encryption: "Anonymous".[3]

Order From Chaos[]

Eggman would eventually realize that "Anonymous" was none other than A.D.A.M., having paid attention to all of his actions (including the incident with the Metal Destructix), before finally confirming it after witnessing him steal Mammoth Mogul's Chaos Emerald and subsequently releasing both him and Ixis Naugus.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Despite what the group name and their status as robot copies would imply, the members of the Metal Destructix are not considered part of the Metal Series.
