Meteor Smash (メテオスマッシュ Meteosumasshu?) is a technique used by Silver the Hedgehog in Sonic Generations, appearing as one of Silver’s attacks during the Modern Era's Rival Battle in Crisis City. It is a gigantic ball of wreckage that serves as Silver's last resort against Sonic.

Description

In Silver's battle with Sonic, after Sonic has successfully used a Homing Attack on Silver five times, Silver teleports behind Sonic, where he forms the Meteor Smash and sends it rolling after Sonic. When performing the Meteor Smash, Silver uses his psychokinetic powers to pick up lampposts, signposts, cars, and various other objects found in Crisis City and mashes them into a huge ball of wreckage many times his own size. After forming the gigantic sphere of wreckage, Silver shouts "Meteor Smash!", and throws the boulder down at the road, where it begins to roll after Sonic. The sphere itself will then continue to roll after Sonic infinitely, but will break apart once Silver loses concentration.

Sonic must outrun the boulder while dodging Silver’s other attacks. After one or two attacks (depending on whether the battle is set to Hard Mode), Sonic is allowed a chance to Homing Attack Silver, which sends Silver into the sphere of wreckage. Once Silver impacts the sphere, he loses concentration and the sphere breaks apart, thus ending the attack.

Trivia

  • The longer the “meteor” chases Sonic, the more it closes in on him. This can prevent Sonic from defeating Silver, since if the “meteor” gets close enough, jumping for a Homing Attack is fatal, as Sonic will simply jump into the meteor, which will cause an instant death.
  • Unlike most other objects levitated by Silver's powers, the Meteor Smash does not display a cyan glow.
