The Metropolis Egg Army is a division of the Egg Army which is stationed in Metropolis Zone in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-off comics published by Archie Comics. The Metropolis Egg Army is the technical support of the Egg Army across the globe, as, according to Sonic the Hedgehog, "geeks first, soldiers later." Unlike other units of the Egg Army, the Metropolis Zone forces are a small division with no Egg Boss, and they answer directly to Dr. Eggman.[1]
History
Countdown to Chaos
When Sonic and Tails infiltrate Metropolis Zone in search of their missing companion Bunnie, they encounter the foreman and an Egg Soldier, who turns out to be Bunnie in disguise. Bunnie knocks the foreman unconscious, and tells Sonic and Tails about the new shield generator which Eggman had commissioned to be built in Metropolis. As Sonic and Bunnie make their way to the generator, however, the Metropolis Egg Army is dispatched to prevent their escape and capture them. The army manages to surround Sonic and Bunnie around the doors to the vault that stores the shield generator, but an earthquake forces the army to retreat to its secure shelters, and the Freedom Fighters escape aboard the Tornado with the shield generator.[2]
Trivia
- The Metropolis Egg Army is the first Egg Army unit to be introduced without any named membership, as well as reporting directly to Dr. Eggman without an assigned Egg Boss.
