The New Black Comet

The New Black Comet is a vessel that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. In the Post-Super Genesis Wave timeline, it was a comet used for the transportation of the Black Arms following the destruction of the first Black Comet. It first appeared in Sonic Universe #59.

History

Shadow Fall

SU 59 NBC Spotted

Abraham Tower revealing to Team Dark and the Spider Troupe about the New Black Comet, from Sonic Universe #59.

The New Black Comet, piloted by Black Death, was sent to Sonic's World during the Shattered World Crisis in order to invade the planet and reproduce the Black Arms with the Dark Arms. However, Abraham Tower of G.U.N. had send Team Dark and the Spider Troupe inside the New Black Comet via the UFSF Ratatosk to eliminate the Black Arms once and for all even after their previous attempt at destroying the planet. As Team Dark and the Spider Troupe travel inside to destroy the comet with a bomb, they come across a room where they are trapped. Fortunately, Shadow the Hedgehog was able to use the Conduit Gel to advance forward while the rest of Team Dark and the Spider Troupe stay.[1] Whereas Shadow is then ambushed by several Black Arm soldiers and Eclipse the Darkling, who had planned this mission, the Spider Troupe and the rest of Team Dark are forced to escape the room they were trapped in thanks to an ambush of Black Annelids. Shadow was then conflicted with memory scans of both Eclipse and Black Death to hypnotize Shadow to join their side. After a struggle, the Black Arms were successful at bringing Shadow to their side. Team Dark and the Spider Troupe had then encountered Shadow and the Black Arms, as Shadow would face against his own team while Eclipse and his reinforcements would chase the Spider Troupe and steal the bomb from their possession.[2]

SU 62 NBC Destroyed

The New Black Comet exploding as the Ratatosk escapes, from Sonic Universe #62.

The Spider Troupe are unsuccessful at delivering the bomb to the right coordinates, as Eclipse single-handedly suffocates the G.U.N. forces with ease. Eclipse and several Black Arm soldiers take the Spider Troupe to the Dark Arms chamber, where they will be eaten by the newly-hatched Dark Arms. Meanwhile, Rouge and Omega were successful to bring Shadow back to his consciousness, Team Dark is reformed and they split up, as Rouge and Omega will find Spider Troupe while Shadow would find Black Death to end this invasion. Rouge and Omega free the weakened-Spider Troupe while chasing Eclipse and a Black Oak soldier, as they have the bomb that can destroy the comet. Shadow successfully finds Black Death's chamber, and the battle ensues.[3]

Both Shadow and Black Death brawl with their full might, as Shadow removes his Inhibitor Rings to access full power of his Chaos energy. Meanwhile, Rouge and Omega are able to find Eclipse and the Black Oak soldier with the bomb. After a brief battle, Eclipse is beaten and the Black Oak soldier is killed. With this, Rouge and Omega activate the bomb, which will set off in a matter of minutes. Eclipse is sent to an escape pod via Death's Eye while Rouge, Omega, and the Spider Troupe head back to the UFSF Ratatosk. Black Death and Shadow then continue fighting, as the battle ends with Shadow activating his Chaos Blast attack, killing Black Death. Shadow then barely escapes the destruction of the comet due to the bomb, as the Ratatosk escapes the explosion and the escape pod that Eclipse and the now-deceased-Death's Eye are piloting crash lands at Sky Rail Zone. Shadow uses Chaos Control to return to the Ratatosk, barely escaping death. But now, their mission is over, and the planet now worries about the Shattered World Crisis.[4]
