The New Motora (ニュー・モトラ[1] Nyū Motora?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, ladybug-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman, as well as an upgraded variant of the Moto Bug.

Appearance[]

New Motoras are based on ladybugs. Their design is almost identical to the Moto Bug's, except for their color scheme. New Motoras have silver and blue bodies with a single wheel beneath them, exhaust pipes on both sides, a pair of small silver pincers, and an orange head. New Motoras also noticeably have two pairs of claws instead of one on each side.

Overview[]

In the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, New Motoras are found in Under Ground Zone and Green Hills Zone. Their attack pattern is exactly the same as the Moto Bugs from the original Sonic the Hedgehog which involves rolling innocuously along the ground, though they are slightly faster.

While New Motoras only move back and forth, when the player approaches one, it will try to ram the player. Eventually though, it will slow down and resumes its regular movements. Otherwise, they can easily be destroyed with the Spin Jump or Spin Attack. Like other Badniks in the 8-bit games, New Motoras do not contain Animals.

Powers and abilities[]

New Motoras are slightly faster than their predecessors, but they can also ram towards any intruders they see. This ability, however, requires the New Motora to slowly build up speed overtime, leaving them highly vulnerable.

Trivia[]

  • The New Motora's name is derived from motoru, meaning "to deviate from."
