History

Early missions

Ballhog&Newtron

Ballhog and Newtron with an explosive, from Sonic the Hedgehog #16.

Newtron and Ball Hog had the task of dynamiting a random place in an attempt to flush out a spy. Sonic, who knew what was happening, set off the explosives before the bomb could reach its intended target.[1] Newtron was later present during an attack on what Robotnik thought was a wedding between Sonic and Sally Acorn. While the Newtron was easily defeated, the wedding was revealed to be a play.[2]

Operation: Clean Sweep

Newtron-Operation-Clean-Sweep

A Newtron caught by Sonic during the Operation: Clean Sweep, from Sonic the Hedgehog #226.

A Newtron later appeared in Green Hill Zone during the events of Operation: Clean Sweep. In this reality, the Newtron were created by and serving under Dr. Eggman. After Sonic destroyed a group of Motobugs, a Newtron appeared behind him on a tree. Before it could attack, Sonic jumped onto the badnik, telling it to take him to its leader. Riding it like a surfboard, Sonic let the Newtron crash into a capsule full of Mobini that Snively collected.[3]

Powers and abilities

During Operation: Clean Sweep, Newtrons demonstrated the ability to turn themselves invisible and transform into rockets.[3]
