It surprises you with hidden spikes

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

The Noro-Noro[1] (ノロノロ[2] Noronoro?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, snail-based Badnik model created by Dr. Robotnik.

Appearance[]

Noronoro b

Based on snails, Noro-Noros have a pink gastropod shell each with three spikes aligned on top of it and yellow bodies with black underbellies. They also have two large cartoonish black eyes on thin eyestalks, and the sides of their shells are covered in gray bumpy plates.

Overview[]

QuartzQuadrantPast

A Noro-Noro, from Sonic the Hedgehog CD.

In Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Noro-Noros appear as enemies in Quartz Quadrant. In gameplay, they squirm slowly left and right along the ground within their designated areas. When the playable character gets close to them however, the Noro-Noros will occasionally thrust its three spikes out from their shells while they move. These spikes protect the Noro-Noros from aerial attacks while the playable character will take damage should they touch these spikes. To defeat a Noro-Noro, the player has to attack it from the sides, especially on the head, with the Spin Attack or Spin Dash.

In the Bad Future or sometimes in the Present timeframe of the Rounds, the Noro-Noros show signs of decay: they have lost the plating on the sides of their shell and their spikes. Due to the latter, they cannot use their spikes as defense against the playable character, makig them highly vulnerable. Also, like every Badnik in the game, the Noro-Noros are powered by Little Planet flower seeds which will pop out of them after they are defeated.

Powers and abilities[]

The Noro-Noros are capable of protruding deadly spikes from their shells that they can use to skewer their opponents.

Trivia[]

  • "Noro-noro" is the Japanese word for "slow" or "sluggish".
