Omochao is a character in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was originally a normal Chao who was taken into the Hedgehog Family, but took a robotic form after spending time with Jules Hedgehog.

History

Omochao original Pre-SGW

Omochao's original form, from Sonic the Hedgehog #173.

Omochao was originally a regular neutral Chao living at a Chao Garden near the Magic Ring Grotto. When its Chao Garden was destroyed by Dr. Eggman, Omochao was moved to the Lake of Rings in Knothole. There, Omochao followed Sonic home where it was adopted by Jules Hedgehog. Soon after, it naturally adopted Jules' traits, causing it to take a robotic appearance.[1][2]

Omochao was later with Jules and Bernie when Ixis Naugus offered to turn Jules back to flesh and blood exchange for his loyalty. Like the rest of the family, Omochao was not pleased at Naugus presence.[3]

Powers and abilities

As a Chao, Omochao can gain the traits of creatures to which it is exposed to as it grows, like when it took on Jules' robotic traits. Once Omochao nears the end of its life-cycle, it can envelope itself in a cocoon and emerge as an egg—reborn as a new Chao with the traits it had in its past life.[4] It is as well capable of flight by rotating the propeller on its head (which it gained later on).[3]
