Onyx Island[1] is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a version of Angel Island from Silver's future.[1]

Description[]

Onyx Island is a version of Angel Island from Silver's future, and therefore has various characteristics in common with that island, such as shape.[2] Like its present counterpart, it has a variety of environments, both natural and artificial, which include tropical hills, deserts, parks, and frozen regions.

History[]

Sonic Rivals[]

In Sonic Rivals, Eggman Nega, disguised as Dr. Eggman, turned the Master Emerald from the future into a card using a special camera, allowing him to harness its power and transport Onyx Island to the present of earth.[3] This was done so that he could dispose of Eggman and improve his family's reputation in the future.

Curious about the island, Sonic and Tails went to it to investigate, but the latter was turned into a card by Eggman Nega upon their arrival. Meanwhile, Knuckles came here to look for the Master Emerald, which was turned into a card by the villain; Shadow went to the island after being called by the real Eggman for help; and Silver ended up here after chasing after Nega. However, the heroes were eventually able to defeat Eggman Nega, and Knuckles used the restored Master Emerald to send Onyx Island back to the future.
