The Oracle of Delphius[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic Underground television series. He is a magical prophet and an ally of the Freedom Fighters, having prophesied the downfall of the Robotnik Empire with the formation of the Council of Four.

The oracle's true name is unknown, but the triplets call him 'Orc'.

Appearance[]

The Oracle is a green-skinned, warty creature that vaguely resembles a crocodile or reptilian anteater. For attire, he wears a purple cloak.

History[]

TV series[]

Season one[]

The Oracle of Delphius is one of the Resistance's most powerful allies, perfectly capable of withstanding an attack by numerous enemies. He serves to test Sonic, Sonia and Manic as they struggle to end the war against Dr. Robotnik and find their mother, Queen Aleena.

He makes his home inside of a cave inside of a snowy mountain.

Personality[]

The Oracle of Delphius is very wise, but also very cryptic. Throughout the series, he never gives the Sonic Underground the exact location of where to find their mother; he only gives them very cryptic hints and riddles.

Powers and abilities[]

The Oracle is incredibly powerful. Abilities that he has demonstrated include:

  • Teleportation
  • Conjuration of objects, such as tables and chili dogs
  • Giving Sonic energy, making him fully awake
  • Freezing people in place
  • Creating illusions
  • Predicting the future
  • Flying
  • Shapeshifting
  • Creating portals to other dimensions
  • Taking away Sonic and Sonia's powers and restoring them at will

Trivia[]

  • His title is likely derived from the Oracle of Apollo at Delphi in Ancient Greece.
    • His actual name is not known to us.
  • In the manual for the Sonic Underground LCD game and in early production documents for the series, the Oracle of Delphius is stated to have died shortly after telling Sonic to assemble his notes into a song. In addition to this directly contradicting the Oracle's appearances in the television series, the cause of the Oracle's death is unspecified in the manual and production documents.
  • As the original series was cancelled with no real payoff, it is unknown on whether the Oracle's prophecy ever came true.
