[edit] Characters from the games
NOTE: Characters from the video game continuity are often used in others as well.
[edit] Gazebo Boobowski
A cancelled character from Sonic X-treme, Gazebo was planned to be a male Manx cat and one of the Guardians of the Rings of Order, together with his daughter Tiara Boobowski.
[edit] Giant Frogs
The Giant Frogs play an important role in the Sonic Heroes levels Frog Forest and Lost Jungle. The frogs have the ability to make it rain, either making plants grow rapidly or destroying them. The green frogs make plants grow and allow the characters to access new areas of the jungle. The black frogs make plants wither and die. The frogs are easily startled, causing them activate their powers. Team Chaotix have to avoid detection from the frogs during their mission, as they are supposedly discovered by Eggman's robots during rain.
[edit] Honey the Cat
Honey the Cat was a prototype character for Sonic the Fighters but did not make it in the final version. Honey was based on Honey from Fighting Vipers, but she now looks like a cat-like Sonic character. However, it is possible to play Honey if you hack into the Arcade version (she is also in the Sonic Gems Collection version, but her data has been distorted beyond repair).
[edit] The President's Secretary
The President's Secretary appears in Sonic Adventure 2 and is heard in Shadow the Hedgehog. In Sonic Adventure 2, she is seen with the President in his limousine and appears to be oblivious to the events happening around her when Sonic and Tails leap into the limo to pick up Eggman's coordinates, but it might be because she received a message from the agent, Rouge the Bat. In Shadow the Hedgehog she speaks to the President via an answering machine in several cutscenes, and during Expert Mode, she twice reminds him of his casual meetings (such as sharing tea) with other world leaders.
[edit] Characters from Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie
[edit] Sara
Sara (alternatively spelled Sera or Seira[citation needed]) is the daughter of the president in Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie, and she is apparently quite spoiled. Although she looks mostly human, she does have a furry tail. In the movie, she is kidnapped by Doctor Eggman in order to make Sonic do as he says. Later it turns out that Eggman plans to marry Sara after destroying the Land of the Sky, which fills her with disgust. She is, however, saved by Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. She is voiced by Mika Kanai in the Japanese version, and Sascha Biesi in the English dub.
[edit] The President
The President is a bearded and constantly nervous man who lives in the capital of the Land of the Sky with his daughter Sara. He knows a local owl, who is apparently an assistant of his (albeit an unreliable one). He is voiced by Edwin Neal in the English dub.
He should not be confused with the President who has since been introduced into the Sonic video game continuity.
[edit] Old Man Owl
"Old Man Owl", as Sonic calls him, is an wise old owl who is the President's messager. He has either bad eyesight or poorly made glasses, gets scared easily, and is somewhat disliked by Sonic due to his slow-wittedness. He first appears in the film to tell Sonic and Tails that the President has a message for them, and then stays at Sonic and Tails' island to take care of their house. After Metal Sonic arrives, he forces the owl to dress in Sonic's sport clothes, which the owl greatly enjoys. He then becomes an annoyance to Tails and the President as he constantly dances around with a freestyle. In the end, he pilots the President's aircraft to the frozen icecaps, and is saved from an explosion by Metal Sonic. Old Man Owl is voiced by Charlie Campbell in the English dub.
[edit] Characters from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog
[edit] Da Bears
Big Griz and Big Mike, together otherwise known as "Da Bears", are two less-than-intelligent, bumbling bears who claim to be Sonic's biggest fans. While rather thick, Da Bears are skilled drivers and are determined to help out Sonic in any way they can. They have brown fur, and Big Griz has blue eyes while Big Mike has green eyes.
Briz Griz are Big Mike are voiced by French Tickner and Michael Donovan respectively.
In their first appearance, The Robotnik Express, Da Bears break into a Robotnik-owned train (consisted of an 4-4-0 tender locomotive, two bomb-loaded boxcars and an caboose) en route to his munitions factory (Robotnik's Emporium of Devastation, Destruction, and Demolition) when they hear that Scratch and Grounder had captured Sonic and Tails. Of course, by the time they got there, Sonic had already turned the tables on the robots and escaped, leading Da Bears to mistake Scratch and Grounder for Sonic and Tails. At first, Da Bears follow "Sonic and Tails" thinking that the real heroes were the robots. Sonic, however, eventually clears up the confusion and later allies with Da Bears to keep the explosive-laden train from crashing into a valley village. They later reappaered in "Mad Mike, Da Bear Warrior" helping Sonic, Tails, andtheir friend Updike save Updike's village from working on Robotnik's statue.
[edit] Miss Possum
A sweet (and short) lady possum, she was Sonic and Tails's friend in the town of Tranquil Gulch, who brought them to the town to sort out its problems there. Once they were cleared up, she was made Sheriff.
Miss Possum was a very stereotypical "good ol' gal from out west", the kind that can be found running brothels or singing in saloons in many Westerns. She bears a slight resemblance to Dolly Parton.
[edit] Prince Charnock and Splorg
Prince Charnock and Splorg are special guest stars who appear in "Close Encounters of the Sonic Kind". Charnock is a green lizard-like alien with a squid-like head, while Splorg is a floating spectacled red blob resembling a red blood cell. Charnock is on vacation and seems to be a bit of an idiot, while Splorg is smart, pompous and arrogant. The two crash-land their ship on Mobius thanks to Robotnik's new Electro-Suction Plate, while on their way back to their homeplanet of Rhombus. Charnock is supposed to be crowned king of the planet in just two hours, but their ship is now in pieces. It also revealed that Charnock is on vacation, but if he cannot reach his coronation in time, his unnamed baby brother will become king and destroy Mobius.
Sonic and Tails rescue the two from Scratch and Grounder and help them locate the missing pieces of their ship. However, after Sonic finds most, the ship's two most important pieces are missing - the cockpit's pressurizing canopy and the naviagational nose-cone. The four head off to find them, quickly finding the cockpit canopy. Charnock is fascinated by the planet's nature but he nearly is eaten by a snake, steps into a river and falls down a cliff. During a landslide, the heroes and the robots accidentally mix up the ship's nose-cone for Grounder's nose. Sonic defeats Scratch and Grounder, but soon discovers Robotnik has Tails, Charnock and Splorg prisoner. Sonic gives himself up to save his friends and Mobius, and the aliens gets their nose-cone back. Charnock has one last trick up his sleeve, photographing Robotnik's hovercraft, but "accidentally" knocking over a giant rock that crushes Robotnik. The four race back to the spaceship and Charnock and Splorg head off to the coronation. Charnock also reveals before leaving that his baby brother is literally his baby brother - he's only two years old!
[edit] Professor Dinglehopper Von Schlemmer
Professor Dinglehopper Von Schlemmer is a kooky scientist that has orange hair, brown eyes and green skin. When Sonic or Tails are in danger, they sometimes see him for a device which he invents that can stop Robotnik or find each other such as when Sonic was trapped in a temple in the episode Tails' Tale. However Professor Von Schlemmer sometimes forgets his name in a few episodes and asks himself who is he, which Sonic or Tails reply that he is Von Schlemmer. Some of his inventions include Gizmo Gas (makes an object grow), Dream-ma-ma-jig (can get dreams into the real world) and Portable Dream-ma-ma-jig (same as Dream-ma-ma-jig except smaller and looks like a night cap).
Professor Von Schlemmer is voiced by French Tickner.
[edit] Santa Claus
This version of Santa Claus lives on Sonic's home planet of Mobius, with the familiar task of delivering presents to children on Christmas Eve. He appeared in Sonic Christmas Blast, in which Dr. Robotnik planned to steal Christmas and rule the world. Santa apparently announced his retirement, but in truth he had been replaced by Metal Claus, a dimwitted robot who was only programmed to say things revolving around Christmas. Robotnik held Santa captive in a nearby mountain, but Sonic was there to rescue Santa and foil Robotnik's plan. As a gift, Santa gave his job to Sonic, and Christmas was saved.
[edit] Wes Weasley
Mobius's number one salesman/con artist/narrator/announcer/dog show judge/real estate agent, etc. Wes Weasley is often recognized for his yellow suit and his merchandise of questionable quality. Being a salesman, Wes doesn't really care who's buying from him, so long as he gets his pay. He's quick to leave if things start going wrong however.
Robotnik despises Wes due to many of Wes's products backfiring on him. However, his minions continue to purchase from Wes, despite all the trouble that usually coincide with the products. One time, Coconuts went on a shopping spree and forwarded all of the payments to Robotnik without his knowing.
He is voiced by Michael Donovan but however Tony Rosato and James Rankin (Luigi and Cheatsy Koopa from The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3) were considered for the role.
