Sonicdressed as shadow

Sonic in an alternate Outfit.

Outfits[1] are recurring objects in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They consist of optional clothing that the characters can wear.

Description

Outfits, as their name implies, consist of attires that can be equipped to the playable characters during gameplay, thereby changing the appearance of the character's game model. Each Outfit is unique and often designed to fit the character's style.

So far, Outfits have been entirely optional extra features in the games, and can only be unlocked via external downloads of after clearing certain requirements. Outfits normally only offer aesthetic changes, although there have been cases where they affect the characters' moveset.
