Sonic using the Paladin Style.

Paladin Style is one of three different styles for Sonic the Hedgehog that a player can play with in Sonic and the Black Knight. Paladin Style grants the player power in the form of greater attack damage, though at the cost of lowering the player's movement speed. Paladin Style is most associated with Sir Gawain due to Gawain only being playable in Paladin Style.

The player can improve Paladin Style by raising its Proficiency Level which is done by completing Missions with it. The number of stars the player receives at the end of each Mission will be accumulated to raise Paladin Style's Proficiency Level. The number of stars required to reach the next Proficiency Level can be confirmed from the Status Screen where the player can change the combat style. By increasing Paladin Style's Proficiency Level, the player will unlock more Skills.

Etymology[]

The name 'Paladin Style' is derived from the paladins, sometimes known as the Twelve Peers, who were the foremost warriors of Charlemagne's court.

The term was used to denote a "holy knight" style character in the roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons, and has been used in the same way in numerous games since, including World of Warcraft and Diablo.
