Created by Dr. Eggman, the doctor used the Particle Accelerator for a scam by having Metal Sonic steal the device and then frame Sonic as the culprit. When Sonic found Metal Sonic though, the robot used the Particle Accelerator to empower himself. Hitting the device with a horseshoe however, Sonic made the Particle Accelerator overload Metal Sonic until he blew up. Sonic then returned the device to Eggman.[1]

  • In real-life, particle accelerators are machines that uses electromagnetic fields to propel charged particles to high speeds and to contain them in well-defined beams.
