Penguinator has a black body which has two eyes, blue helmet, fins, grey belly, yellow beak and feet. Penguinators in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 waddle slowly back and forth until the player approaches at IceCap Zone. When the player is close to the Badnik, Penguinator will then attack the player with a belly slide. The player can easily dodge this attack and the Penguinator can be easily defeated with Spin Attack.
Penguinators appeared in the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Lost World,[2] where they are seen featured at Frozen FactoryZone One. During the game, it turns out that Badniks, including Penguinators, got hijacked by the Deadly Six. Penguinators are seen to have the same attack pattern from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 by slowly moving towards the player and then belly slides at him/her.

There have been ice-themed zones in the series that have penguin-type Badniks or very similar ones to the Penguinator. Sonic 3D Blast has penguin-type Badnik being featured in Diamond Dust Zone, Sonic Labyrinth has a Badnik named Aroro which looks very similar and Sonic Advance has Badnik called Pen that appears to be nearly identical to Penguinator.
