Pete Capella is an American actor and voice actor, who was the English voice actor for Silver the Hedgehog from 2006 to 2010.

Biography

A Middletown Township, New Jersey resident, Capella has been acting his whole life. He graduated from college with a BA in Theater and Communications. At age 16, he became a performer in Improvision Jam Comedy Labs and it was here he got the nickname "The Sniper". He was the co-owner and artistic director of the troupe, performing every weekend in Eatontown, New Jersey. He currently owns a restaurant in Los Angeles called the "Flats".[1]

Wha-Chow! interview

In an interview on the Wha-Chow! website, Pete Capella stated that he had been reading characters with much deeper voices and was surprised to be asked to read for Silver, as the character was 13 years old [sic]. He also stated that when he first read the script, he didn't know much, as he was just given the sides for the trailer which had Silver's line, "I finally found him, the Iblis Trigger!" Pete was asked if people would ask him to do Silver's voice in real life, to which he replied that if anyone does, he'd refuse, but he would use his Silver voice just to mess with people. At the end of the interview, he was asked to say the site's motto (as most other celebrities do), which was "Wha-chow! It's like a kick in the nuts!" in his Silver voice.

Reception

Like most of the 4Kids voice actors, Pete had received mixed reviews. Some fans had claimed his voice was annoying, but had been praised for showing emotion and sounding teenage, most notably in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and in Sonic Rivals. Despite the mixed reviews from the start, many fans have preferred Pete's role as Silver as opposed to his replacement, Quinton Flynn. Some fans were angered by him being replaced due to the fact he lives in Los Angeles, where most of the new cast is located.
