The Phantom Heavies[1] are a group that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are modified versions of the Hard Boiled Heavies.

History[]

Sonic Mania[]

In Sonic Mania, when Sonic, Tails and Knuckles got to the Titanic Monarch, four of the Hard Boiled Heavies-turned-Phantom Heavies (Phantom Gunner, Phantom Shinobi, Phantom Magician and Phantom Rider) took on the trio when Dr. Eggman sent them to their respective arenas using his Phantom Egg. Despite each of them getting a turn though, none of the Phantom Heavies were able to stop the heroes.

Upon reaching the Egg Reverie, the Phantom King tried to steal the Phantom Ruby for himself, prompting Eggman to battle the Phantom King using his Klepto Mobile in an attempt to take the ruby back. However, Sonic, having all seven of the Chaos Emeralds, transformed into Super Sonic and defeated both of the power-hungry tyrants.

Sonic Mania Plus[]

In Sonic Mania Plus, after the battle in the Titanic Monarch Zone, the Phantom Heavies somehow got destroyed (except for the Phantom Magician), their remains ending up in Angel Island Zone; the Heavy King and Heavy Magician even reverted back to their base forms. When Sonic later resurfaced with the Phantom Ruby however, the Heavy Magician stole the Phantom Ruby and took it to the remains of her teammates, where she gave it to the Heavy King, who used it to revive the rest of the Phantom Heavies as the Hard Boiled Heavies and teleport them to Green Hill.

The Hard Boiled Heavies later turned back into the Phantom Heavies, with the exception of the Heavy King. These individuals fought Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, and Ray when Dr. Eggman sent them to their respective arenas using his Phantom Egg. Despite each of them getting a turn though, none of the robots were able to stop the group.
