The Piko Piko Hammer (ピコピコハンマー PikoPiko Hanmā?) is an object that appears in the Sonic X anime series and its comic book spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is the main weapon of Amy Rose.

The Piko Piko Hammer resembles a double-faced sledgehammer or mallet. It has a larger, cylinder-shaped red head with raised rectangular sections on the middle, thick yellow face disks, and a handle that is brown at the bottom, golden like the hammer itself in the middle, and is seemingly made of metal at the end where it meets the head.

Features and traits

The Piko Piko Hammer is a powerful weapon, capable of crushing robots and metal alike with seemingly little effort,[1] though it cannot match the strength of beings like Sonic and Knuckles. It also appears to be able to change its size, ranging from having heads light enough for Amy to wield with one hand, to heads that are so massive that she needs to use both arms to swing them.

When not using it, Amy keeps the Piko Piko Hammer in an unknown unknown hiding spot, but she is able to inexplicably pull out of thin air at will. In addition, Amy possesses a seemingly endless supply of hammers, seeing that she was able to conjure up another Piko Piko Hammer out of nowhere by just by waving her hand after throwing the first one into the Grand Egg Imperial.[2]

It is suggested that Amy has some sort of connection to her Piko Piko Hammers. When Amy was trapped in a virtual reality by Dr. Eggman, Amy said that she could not "feel" her hammer while she was within the illusion.[3]
