The Pirates of the Setting Dawn are a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are a group of pirates under the command of Captain Shellbreaker that sail the seas in search of treasure for their own benefit.[1]

The Case of the Pirate Princess
While sailing the seas, the Pirates of the Setting Dawn came across Echo the Dolphin, Razor the Shark, and the Chaotix, all of whom they abducted and brought aboard their ship.[2] To avoid further conflict, Razor and the Chaotix decided to infiltrate the crew by joining it. However, Echo, who believed that she was being betrayed, was taken to the ship's brig. Razor and the Chaotix were able to become familiar with the pirates while a course had been plotted for a nearby island.[1]
