Based on bees, Poh-Bees appear to be upgraded Buzz Bomber models. They have yellow thoraxes with small transparent wings on their back, and black abdomens with a yellow stripe which have either rail cannons or chained maces attached where their stinger would be. They also have black eyes with green sclera, red antennas and yellow mandibles.
Sonic the Hedgehog CD
In Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Poh-Bees come in two types, each with a different attack pattern. The first type is found at Wacky Workbench. Similar to the Buzz Bombers, they fly around and fire projectiles at the playable character from their stinger when the player gets close. After attacking, they just fly forward. In the Bad Future or sometimes in the present timeline of the Round, Poh-Bees show signs of decay. They also fly slower and are unable to fire projectiles.
The second type of Poh-Bees appear in Metallic Madness, which have two maces attached on their abdomens by chains. As attack patterns, they fly back and forth while swimming their maces in different directions. The player will take damage by touching the maces, but can pass through their chains without harm. In the Bad Future or sometimes in the present timeline of the Round, they show no sign of decay, but they fly slower and only have a single mace
In Sonic Mania, the Poh-Bees appear as enemies in Metallic Madness Zone. Both Poh-Bee types with different maces (long or long with small maces) follow the same attack patterns they exhibited in Sonic the Hedgehog CD. However in this game, they are usually found flying around further pathways seen in the background. Also, instead of Little Planet flowers, Poh-Bees are in this game powered by Animals.
Poh-Bees and Tonbos loosely resemble each other design wise for having similar transparent wings, antennas and different colored eyes despite being based on different insects.
