Power Pearls are objects that appear in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. They are a type of pearls with mystical properties found in Labyrinth.

Description

Power Pearls are yellow or white pearls at the size of at least tennis balls. Power Pearls generate electrical powers which King Saline has demonstrated can be harnessed for one's own use. Surff also demonstrated that when two Power Pearls strike each other, they will explode in roughly five seconds.

History

Five Power Pearls were kept by King Saline above his throne. Eventually, Dr. Robotnik wanted to conquer the underwater city of Labyrinth so he could have all the Power Pearls to power his robot army. As such, he kidnaped Princess Bubbles to hold for ransom in exchange for the city and the Power Pearls. In the ensuring battles for Labyrinth alongside Sonic and Tails, Surff found a net of Power Pearls at a docking station in Labyrinth which the heroes used two of to bomb Dr. Robotnik's Robo-sub and save the underwater city.[1]

Trivia

  • Power Pearls function similar to Depth charges, an anti-submarine warfare weapon used to destroy a submarine by being dropped into the water nearby and detonating, subjecting the target to a powerful and destructive hydraulic shock.
  • Power Pearls appear to sink before exploding. Real pearls are known to float on water and cannot sink.
