The President (大統領, Daitouryou) is the head of state of the United Federation, a fictional nation in the Sonic the Hedgehog series very similar to the present day United States of America. He resides in Central City in a building very similar to the White House.

He is voiced by Kinryū Arimoto and Steve Broadie in Sonic Adventure 2, and by Yutaka Nakano and Maddie Blaustein in Shadow the Hedgehog.

Game AppearancesEdit

Sonic Adventure 2Edit

The President first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2, when Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower catch up to his limousine on Central City's Route 101 in order to use his computer to pinpoint the location of Doctor Eggman, as the doctor had contacted the President seconds earlier supplying an ultimatum: that he either let Eggman take over the country, or he'll use the Eclipse Cannon to wipe out every single major city in the United Federations, and planned on giving him 24 hours to decide, although Sonic's arrival forced him to abandon the ultimatum.

Sonic HeroesEdit

The president has been briefly mentioned by Rouge the Bat during Sonic Heroes; if Team Dark stays still for some time, she will say "I haven't seen the President lately".

Shadow the HedgehogEdit

The president makes his next major appearance in Shadow the Hedgehog, where he holds an admiration for Sonic and Shadow for saving the world in Sonic Adventure 2 (he also has a picture of the two heroes posing in front of the White House), and appears in several cutscenes trying to deal with the alien invasion of the Black Arms. Also, his design is slightly altered in this game as he now bears a striking resemblance to Government Agent Kent Mansley, the main antagonist from the WB movie "The Iron Giant". In the game's Last Story and true ending, he is seen at the Guardian Units of Nations Headquarters where he and the rest of the people at the base see a recording of Professor Gerald Robotnik. The recording gave Shadow the motivation he needed to save the world once more by vanquishing Black Doom and eliminating the Black Arms for good by destroying the Black Comet with the Eclipse Cannon. The President realizes that the Professor truly was a hero and helped save the entire human race, he then vows to make a brighter future, paying homage to Gerald which the G.U.N Commander calls an excellent idea.

Other AppearancesEdit

The president has been also mentioned in Sonic Battle by Rouge and in Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 by Shadow.

Appearances in other mediaEdit

Sonic the Hedgehog: The MovieEdit

PresidentOVA2

Main article: President (Movie)

A different President appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie, unrelated to the Presidents of mainstream continuity. He is a bearded and constantly nervous man, simply known as Mr. President. He governs the Land of the Sky and lives in the capital with his daughter Sara. In the movie, he is only seen as Robotnik's hostage. He is assisted by Old Man Owl.

The President is voiced by Yuzuru Fujimoto in the Japanese version and by Edwin Neal in the English dub.

Sonic XEdit

In Sonic X, a different President is seen, taking the place of the President seen in the games during the animated adaptations of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. This President is gray-haired and stockier than the one seen in the games. He is President of the United States rather than United Federation.[citation needed] In the episode "Fly Spy", he offers Rouge the Bat full amnesty from her thefts if she works for him. He is often taken hostage by Doctor Eggman, and almost always turns to Sonic and his friends if there is trouble.

In "Prize Fight", the President announces and participates in the Emerald Fighting Tournament. He fought the "Black Knight" in the first round of the tournament, but his Secretary threw a towel on him to give up.

After Perfect Chaos's attack on Station Square, he is seen signing papers with "Michael R".[1]
