For the POW move in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, see Psychic Wave (Voxai).

The Psychic Wave (サイキックウェーブ Saikikkuu~ēbu?) is a Board type Extreme Gear that appears in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity and Sonic Free Riders. It is Silver the Hedgehog's character-exclusive Extreme Gear, meaning only he can use it, and his default Extreme Gear. It is obtained in both games when unlocking Silver as a playable character.

Game appearances

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity

Quotation1 This mysterious gear is made of an unknown metal. Perhaps it came from the future along with Silver... Quotation2
Description, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity[1]

The Psychic Wave first appeared in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. According to its profile, the Psychic Wave is a mysterious piece of technology in itself, and is made from an unknown metal. It is believed the Psychic Wave originates from Silver's future, and was brought with Silver when he arrived in the present day. It is unlocked in the game, alongside Silver, by completing the Babylon Rogues' Story in Story Mode.

In this game, the Psychic Wave is slightly broad and bulky in structure and has a wave-like shape, with a pronounced front resembling an arrow head, and what appears to be a double exhaust ports in the back. It is mostly colored indigo, with a white top surface, stripes and wings on the front's sides, and has a purple highlight and two grey circular foot panels on the top.

Abilities and traits

As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Psychic Wave is well-balanced in its attributes with average statistics and is suited for general riding. Like most other character-exclusive Extreme Gears, the Psychic Wave does not possess any unique abilities of its own.

Quotation1 Little is known about the material used to craft this gear. Perhaps Silver brought it with him from the future. Quotation2
Description, Sonic Free Riders[2]

The Psychic Wave made a return in Sonic Free Riders. According to its profile, little is known about what materials the Psychic Wave is made of, and it is believed to have been brought from the future to the present by Silver, much like in the previous title. It is unlocked in the game, alongside Silver, by completing Team Rose's and Team Dark's stories.

In Sonic Free Riders, the Psychic Wave received a drastic redesign. In this game. it is almost perfectly rectangle-shaped board with rectangular white edges on the sides and the rear, while the front and top surface are black. It also has two circular panels on the tope surface, with three white markings surrounding them.

Abilities and traits

As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Free Riders, the Psychic Wave is, like in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, well-balanced in its attributes with average statistics, and is suited for general riding.

Like in the previous title, the Psychic Wave possesses no unique abilities of its own, but it can be equipped with up to two Gear Parts.

  • The Psychic Wave's name may have been derived from Silver's psychic abilities and the gear's wave-like shape.
    • The Psychic Wave's ability to transform into an air ride gear in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity may be an allude to Silver's ability to fly with the use of his psychokinetic powers.
  • The Psychic Wave is the only hedgehog's character-exclusive Extreme Gear not to involve a color in its name.
