The Quantum Dial[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie comic series) comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a Xorda weapon capable of forming artificial black holes.
Description[]
Appearance[]
The Quantum Dial resembles a triangular device with with jagged purple panels connected by four large beams.[1]
Features and traits[]
The Quantum Dial's main function is creating artificial black holes capable of swallowing entire planets, which it does by rotating its "arm" to rupture the space-time continuum. The Quantum Dial also automatically disassembles any mechanical objects that come within range. It also possesses an automated defense grid capable of firing lasers and a Quantum Wave capable of incinerating anything within a 100-mile radius.[1]
History[]
Sonic Adventure 2.5: Omega[]
At the climax of the Xorda Attack on Mobius, the Quantum Dial was deployed by the Xorda on Mobius' Southern Tundra, in an effort to swallow the planet with the black hole it would create. Two missiles sent by the United Federation soon approached the Quantum Dial, but fell apart upon reaching the dial's defense grid. Soon after, hundreds of mobians from all over Mobius charged at the dial, but it activated its defense grid in the process, causing the dial to charge up a Quantum Wave. Sonic and Sally soon after arrived in Giga-Bot Prime, which also fell apart upon contact with the defense grid. However, before the Quantum Dial could fire the Quantum Wave, its defense grid was destroyed by Knuckles the Echidna upon his return from the afterlife, which deactivated the Quantum Wave. However, with the Quantum Dial's arm still rotating forwards, Sonic was forced to use his speed to reverse its rotation, causing the dial to explode and launching him 848,000 light years away from Mobius in the process.[1]
