The Raccoon[1] (アライグマ[2] Araiguma?) is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a race of raccoon Animals used for raising Chao.

Overview[]

In the gameplay of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Raccoons can alter the stats, appearance and personality of a Chao. These animals are either found inside Badnik enemies or the second Chao Container opened in an Action Stage, or hiding somewhere in the Action Stages, usually inside Cages or Pipes. In the first case, simply destroy the Badnik to release the Raccoon inside. When the Raccoons roam free, the player must touch them to pick them up. Also, when released from Badniks, the Raccoons will have a green sphere around them which disappears shortly afterwards. They are found in the following Action Stages:

Hero Story Dark Story Misc.
Action
Stages
City Escape
Metal Harbor
Green Forest
Eternal Engine
Sand Ocean
Radical Highway
Lost Colony
Security Hall
Mad Space
Cannon's Core (Knuckles)
Green Hill

Upon entering a Chao Garden with a Raccoon, it will leave the playable character and run around the garden. Should the player give a Raccoon to a Chao, the Chao will embrace it, attaining its appearance and behavior and raising its stats according to the Raccoon's. The Raccoon will then disappear shortly after.

Raccoon, from Sonic the Hedgehog (film series).

Raccoons appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures. They are non-anthropomorphic critters of Green Hills and make their appearance during Sonic the Hedgehog (film).

Raccoons are small mammals living in the forest surrounding Green Hills. They scavenge around the area for food, such as going through Tom Wachowski's trash bins. This behavior would get on Tom's nerves.

Living rent free in Tom's head, Tom would later think the species were rummaging in his garage. Taking his wife’s tranquilizer gun for bears with him to scare them off, he would get spook seeing not raccoons but Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time. Later, Doctor Robotnik was talking to Tom in his pursuit of Sonic when he heard a noise coming from Tom's home. He barged into the house, only to find a raccoon eating Tom's cake. Tom felt a moment of smugness over the doctor as the raccoon scurried off before Robotnik found Sonic's quill in the kitchen. The raccoon exited through the doggy dog before a fight broke out.
