The Reducing Ray[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It is a tool invented by Slimy that shrinks its targets.
Description
Appearance
The Reducing Ray is a large metal handgun resembling a rifle. It has an elaborate and high-tech design with a rather small grip and a thick handguard.
Features and traits
The Reducing Ray is capable of firing beams that can shrink its targets. Depending on how much power is used, the amount the victim shrinks varies; at full power it can shrink someone down "into infinity." However, its effects are only temporary and its beam can be reflected off smooth surfaces.[1]
History
Wanting to appease Dr. Robotnik and surpass Grimer Wormtongue, Slimy created the Reducing Ray. He spotted Miles "Tails" Prower and used it on the fox for experimental purposes. The effects soon wore off though, prompting Slimy to attempt to shrink Tails again, at full power this time around. However, the shot bounced off Slimy's Hulko-Droid and back at him, causing Slimy to shrink down to a size smaller than an atom.[1]
