The Ritual of Transformation[1] is an event that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It was an annual event that occurred deep within the Mystic Mountain, where chosen children accepted Mystic Genies into their body as part of a short-lived exchange.

History

For generations, children of Shanazar were chosen to become vessels for the Mystic Genies. Unable to leave the Mystic Mountain in their gaseous forms, the genies had the children become their hosts so they could gain a solid form. For five years, these children would be able to call upon their genies to aid their kingdom. After that, the children would die and their genies would become truly free. Despite the costs, the children and their families consider the ritual to be a great honor.[1][2] Fajar and Prank are two people who have taken part in the ritual.

Accompanying the latest chosen children to the Ritual of Transformation in the Mystic Mountain, Sonic and Robotnik attempted to stop the ritual. Within the central chamber, the children opened their bodies to the genies through the Mystic Globe.[1][3] As soon as Sonic learned the true nature of the ritual, he smashed the globe, effectively foiling any future rituals. Despite this, Robotnik still offered to provide the genies with more children.[2]
