Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog
"Robotnik's Rival" is the thirty-sixth episode of the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. Despite being produced as the thirty-sixth episode, it aired as the nineteenth episode during the show's original run.
- Newspaper man
- Awards host
- Private (Tails)
- Police officer
Dr. Robotnik and a rival scientist named Dr. Quark try to cooperate in capturing Sonic. At first they are successful, but due to Scratch and Grounder's incompetence, Sonic and Tails get away. A stream of attempts from Sonic to make the two doctors hate each other (along with Scratch and Grounder tricking Qwark's super-intelligent robot, D.U.F.U.S., into turning against its master) eventually results in their failure. And in the end, Scratch accidentally hits Robotnik with a Duplicator Ray and there's two Robotniks, and the two Robotniks say, "We hate that hedgehog!"
Robotnik and Doctor Qwark have a race and Sonic explains that it is bad to cheat.
Scratch: "On your mark! Get set! GO!" (Robotnik and Quark race, then they try to trip the other so they can win, Sonic waits for them at the finish line)
Sonic: "And no one wins! Hey Quark, Robotnik! Ever heard of the expression 'Cheaters Never Prosper'? (turns to the kids) No one wins when you cheat, playing fair is the only way to go whether you win or lose. Sonic says!"
Title in other languages
- Tails breaks the forth wall in this episode, albeit by accident, by crashing into the title at the episode's start, knocking it down.
