Robotropolis (エッグマンランド Eggumanrando?, lit. "Eggmanland") is a location that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie. It is the personal utopian city of Dr. Robotnik in the Land of Darkness, where the doctor spends his peaceful existence plotting schemes to destroy the Land of the Sky and make his empire the only ruling power in existence.
Robotropolis itself appears as a very modern city, complete with a giant light fixture in Robotnik's likeness. It is located beside or very near the Ancient Relics, an abandoned and sinking city that resembles a post-apocalyptic New York City.
Having finished building his Hyper Metal Sonic, a lethal robot double of Sonic the Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik needed to lure Sonic to Robotropolis to copy his life data for his creation. Lying that a robot known as Metal Robotnik and his army had taken over Robotropolis and had made its Robot Generator run rampant, which would eventually destroy Planet Freedom, Robotnik tricked Sonic and his allies into entering Robotropolis. There, Sonic was caught in a trap that copied his data for Metal, who Sonic engaged in an intense battle after hearing Robotnik gloat about his plan. However, Sonic was soundly defeated, and Robotnik left Robotropolis to enact the destruction of the Land of the Sky, with Tails and Knuckles hot on his heels.
- This is the only location in any Sonic-related media with the name "Robotropolis" which was not formerly known as "Mobotropolis."
- Due to how the movie is cut, many people confuse Robotropolis for the Ancient Relics surrounding it.
