Rosie was the woodchuck childhood nanny of the Freedom Fighters. She appeared only in "Blast to the Past", a two-part episode of Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM). Rosie was roboticized some time prior to the series, however Sally Acorn was able to alter the past, creating a new timeline in which Rosie survived to the present day.
Rosie is a kind-hearted woodchuck and was the nanny for Sonic, Sally, Bunnie, Antoine, and Rotor when they were children. During Robotnik's coup, Rosie took the children to Knothole and kept them safe. However, one day in the early years of Robotnik's rule, she left the village (for unknown reasons) and was captured by robots out in the Great Forest and Roboticized, leaving the children to fend for themselves.
Many years later, Sonic and Sally were able to use the Time Stones to travel back to the past, where they encountered Rosie. Although they introduced themselves as "Alicia" and "Juice", Rosie recognized them as the grown-up versions of her young charges. Sonic and Sally were unable to prevent Robotnik's coup, but Sally was able to warn Rosie never to leave Knothole. When the pair returned to the future, they found Rosie alive and well in Knothole, having never left the village to be captured and roboticized. Although Tails and the other Freedom Fighters had no memory of a timeline in which Rosie had been taken away, Sonic and Sally possessed no memories of the new altered timeline.
Rosie did not appear again in SatAM, but she did make some appearances in the Sonic the Hedgehog series published by Archie Comics. In this series, Rosie was more Sally's personal nanny than one to all the Freedom Fighters.
While her role in the comics is minor, usually only involving her bearing news to Sally, she does later take three orphans into her care as she did the Freedom Fighters when they were younger. On one occasion, she told them a story depicting the Freedom Fighters as heroes in a fantasy adventure, with such characters as Robotnik, Snively, Ixis Naugus, Mammoth Mogul, and Rouge the Bat as villains. In the story, the heroic characters go to save the Elf Fox (played by Tails) and recover his lost tail, with Sonic and Sally's characters falling in love at the end of the story. Much to Rosie's amusement, her three young charges debate how realistic the story is.
Rosie is an elderly woodchuck with gray hair, which she wears in a bun, and orange-brown eyes. She typically wears a blue dress, and a red cape with a hood.
Rosie is a skilled child caretaker, and has probably been taking care of small children most of her life. According to Uncle Chuck, she is very prompt, and according to Tails, she is a good cook. Her ability to recognize "Alicia" as Sally indicates she is also quite intelligent. She is good at keeping promises.
She was presumably pretty close to the Royal Family and Uncle Chuck, and maybe even the other Freedom Fighter's parents as well.
