Route 101 (ルート101 Rūto 101?) is the ninth stage in the Hero story of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. The player controls Tails riding the Cyclone, which has been transformed into a kart.

Description[]

Route 101 is the Hero story equivalent to Route 280, the only differences being that Route 101 has more Rings and Balloons, and there are no gaps in the road.

Story[]

In Station Square, Tails and Amy are on the phone with Sonic. Tails is worried that the stolen Chaos Emeralds have been taken into space to Space Colony ARK for use by Dr. Eggman and Shadow. Then, Knuckles crawls out of the sewers behind them, saying he may have gotten lost in the mines. Tails then tells Sonic that he wants to catch up to the President. He transforms the Cyclone into a kart and takes off.

Gameplay[]

The control scheme in this stage is the same as in Kart Race mode.

Overview[]

1st Mission: Chase the President's limousine![]

2nd Mission: Collect 100 rings![]

Along the way, the player should hit all the Balloons that appear on the path. Each of these contain power-ups holding between ten to forty Rings. As long as the player avoids any large mistakes, the mission should be fine.

3rd Mission: Don't hit other cars![]

This may sound easy, but if the player is not careful, this mission can be extremely frustrating. The player should take their time and not be afraid to hit the brakes, even if the goal is to score an A-Rank, as three minutes is a generous amount of time to do so.

4th Mission: Don't hit the walls![]

Everything from the last mission applies here. Additionally, the player should not try to power slide, and instead take the turns slowly. Only using the speed boost on straight stretches can help to further avoid the possibility of hitting a wall.

Last Mission: Clear Hard mode![]

In Hard mode, the amount of time given by checkpoints is decreased. Notably, the requirement for A-Rank happens to be the exact amount time the player will have to clear it.
