Rush is a main character in the Mega Man comic series, and a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs, published by Archie Comics. He is a robot dog created by Dr. Light of Earth 20XX as a companion to Mega Man and to aid him in his various missions against Dr. Wily and other foes. Rush is one of Mega Man's most faithful allies, often joining him in battle and providing support through various means.
Rush is armored dog with a tan face, brown nose, and blue eyes left. He wears a red helmet which resembles Mega Man's. Rush also has red pointed ears, a pink neck, and a pink midsection connecting his spherical red torso and pelvis. He has a white, segmented tail, and his limbs are connected to his body by pink circular protrusions with orange centers. His upper legs are white, his lower legs pink, and his feet are red and rounded to resemble paws.
Battles for worlds
Along with Tango, Eddie, and Beat, Rush was summoned by Mega Man to help him in his battle against Sonic the Hedgehog, who at the time Mega Man considered an enemy. After a brief but intense scuffle, Rush and his master were attacked-along with Sonic-by Tails Man of the Roboticized Masters, and the heroes quickly put aside their fight to protect civilians. Once Tails Man was restored to his organic form of Tails, Rush befriended the two Mobians, accompanying them, Mega Man, and his fellow robots back to Light Labs. Once there, they stumbled upon Bass and Metal Sonic v3.0 in the midst of kidnapping Dr. Light. Once the heroes managed to open a Warp Ring to follow the villainous robots, Rush came along at Proto Man's insistence. The robot dog thus entered the Skull Egg Zone with his friends, and served as Mega Man's transport as he battled the Copy Robot and the Genesis Unit. He would likewise participate in the first battles with the other Roboticized Masters, and quickly befriended Charmy Bee after his restoration to normal. With that done, Rush joined his friends in heading deeper into the Zone in search of Dr. Light.
Rush and his friends continued their journey through the Skull Egg Zone, eventually engaging an old foe: Shadow Man of the Robot Masters, accompanied by Shadow Man of the Roboticized Masters, whom the group managed to revert to his normal form of Shadow the Hedgehog. The four heroes would later engage Silver Man and Blaze Woman, with Rush falling victim to Silver Man's powers before the robot was returned to his normal self, Silver the Hedgehog. After Blaze the Cat was also returned to normal, Tails looked Rush over, and was reminded of T-Pup, his own robotic dog. The group continued on their journey, eventually facing and freeing Knuckles Man and Rose Woman as well, restoring the pair to their former identities of Knuckles and Amy. After learning that Proto Man and the Chaotix had located the stationary Wily Egg, the team split up, with Rush and Mega Man going to collect Blaze and Silver for the coming battle.
Soon enough the original search party was reunited at the Wily Egg, with the additions of Charmy, Shadow, Blaze, Silver, Knuckles, Amy, Espio, and Vector. This group found themselves faced with a huge obstacle: an army of Robot Masters time-cloned from Mega Man and Rush's past to engage them. Rush joined in the battle, pursuing Skull Man before being called away by Mega Man to provide transportation to the Wily Egg. He was thus the first to identify Dr. Light as the scientist fell from the Wily Egg. The pair rushed to save Light, too far away to accomplish the task, but Shadow managed to rescue the doctor using Chaos Control. With their creator safe, Rush and Mega Man joined Sonic and Tails in boarding the Wily Egg via teleport. As they made their way through the fortress, they were forced to contend with the Mega Man Killers, with Rush joining Tails in battling Enker before helping Mega Man destroy Punk. Sadly, Tails was injured by Ballade's final attack, and Rush was ordered to carry him back outside.
Despite their heroic efforts, Rush and the others were soon surrounded, while Rush stood guard over Tails and Dr. Light. The arrival of the Light Robot Masters under Elec Man turned the tide, allowing Rush to join Light, Knuckles, and Proto Man in boarding the Wily Egg. Rush carried Light to release a captured Sonic and Mega Man while the others battled the doctors. With Mega Man damaged and weakened by his fights in the Wily Egg, Dr. Light suggested that he employ the Super Adaptor with Rush. Mega Man did so, and Rush merged with his master. Following Sonic's suggestion, both heroes drew energy from the Chaos Emeralds gathered by Wily and Eggman, becoming Super Sonic and Super Armor Mega Man. After the heroes beat the doctors' Egg-Wily Machine X, they set to reverse the Super Genesis Wave, with Rush and Mega Man succeeding in returning to their normal world.
The ever-faithful Rush soon joined Mega Man on another interdimensional adventure, reuniting with Sonic and his friends and meeting new allies like the Freedom Fighters, Maverick Hunters, and Team Sticks. As usual, Rush served as Mega Man's transportation during an aerial battle near the Lost Hex, in which the unified heroes did battle with the Mechaniloid army under the Deadly Six. Unfortunately, he and the other robots from Mega Man's World fell under the Deadly Six's technology controlling abilities, and Rush ended up chasing after Tails while the heroes were forced to battle each other.
Rush emulates a typical canine in his love for his master, Mega Man, and in his hostility towards anyone who threatens the robot hero. However, he is generally friendly towards most individuals, quickly making friends with Sonic and his friends.
Powers and abilities
Rush is possessed of a number of abilities due to his robotic nature. He has a spring platform built into his back that Mega Man or others can utilize to launch themselves high into the air. His greatest advantage, is his power to transform into a flying craft which Mega Man or others can ride. In the Genesis Wave-reality, he can also fuse with Mega Man via the Super Adaptor, giving him flight and enhanced strength.
