The SWATbot is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was a military Badnik model developed by Dr. Eggman which served the doctor at the time of the Eggman Invasion.

History

The SWATbots served as part of Dr. Eggman's Badnik Horde during his early campaigns of conquest around that of the Eggman Invasion, with a number of them being present during King Acorn and Walter Naugus' banishment to the Special Zone.[1] However, they were eventually phased out and replaced by a later model, the Egg SWAT.[2]

Egg SWAT

The Egg SWATs are the successors to the SWATbot line, combining the design styles of both the classic SWATbot and Egg Pawn. Like their predecessors, they have numerous modular options and limited personality A.I.

Trivia

  • The SWATbots are based on the original robots from the Sonic the Hedgehog television series, except that their TV series counterparts looked more like Shadowbots as they were colored a dark blue instead of white and grey. In fact, the SWATbot's grey and white color scheme stems from their TV series counterparts' original color scheme in the pilot episode "Heads or Tails".
  • The term "SWATbot" is likely a pun on the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) division of police officers.
