The Sand Worm is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a large worm-like breed of Black Arms.

Appearance[]

The Sand Worm are large worm-like beings. They have solid dark brown skin with thorns on it, especially around their mouths. Also, instead of a face, they have a wide red mouth with six flaps around it.

History[]

Past[]

A huge number of Sand Worms joined Black Doom on the first invasion of Sonic's World and faced several factions. However, when Black Doom was slain by Shadow the Hedgehog, the Sand Worms died with him.[1]

Shattered World Crisis[]

Act One[]

A number of Sand Worms under Black Death's control joined a new invasion of Sonic's World onboard the New Black Comet. There, they fought Team Dark and the Spider Troupe when they invaded the New Black Comet. Despite Shadow temporarily joining their side, the Sand Worms could not stop the invaders from blowing up the New Black Comet with a nuclear warhead while Shadow killed Black Death, resulting in the Sand Worms' end.[2][3]

Personality[]

Like most Black Arms soldiers, the Sand Worms have no clear behavior of their own and are but an extension of their hive-mind's ruler.

Powers and abilities[]

The Sand Worms are efficient burrowers and are durable enough to withstand close-up gunfire without harm. In addition, the Sand Worms are "living missile launchers" which can launch projectiles at their foes.[2]
