Scratch is a character who appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He is a chicken-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman and a member of the Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad. Currently, he works as Breezie's head of security in Casino Park.
Appearance

Scratch is a chicken-based badnik, that bears a resemblance to the Clucker badnik. He is colored mostly gray (specifically on the neck, torso, arms, and legs), with dark-gray feather-motif at the top of his torso, and his legs and peck are colored yellow. He has a gray ear piece on the left side of his head, and he has a red wattle on the right side of his face. He has cartoon-stylized eyes.
Scratch's current design remains mostly the same, albeit with the addition of a black and white tuxedo, a red tie, and a gray ear piece with a miniature microphone attached to it on his left side of his face.
History
Early life
A long while before the Shattered World Crisis, Scratch and Grounder were assigned to "pretend" holding Breezie hostage. However, after Sonic the Hedgehog made mincemeat out of Coconuts and the Egg Antlion at the Underground Zone, Scratch, Grounder, and Breezie got in position with Sonic heading their way. Sonic quickly disposed of Scratch and Grounder, all while saving Breezie.[1]
Sometime later, the Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad was abandoned by Dr. Eggman, leaving Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts out in the cold. However, Breezie gave home to the three by making them her assistants at the Casino Park.[1]
Shattered World Crisis

During the Shattered World Crisis, Scratch and the S6 Squad discovered a Chaos Emerald during a repair operation supervised by Scratch himself, each trying to claim credit for it. The trio excitedly presented it to Breezie, and Scratch suggested that Breezie could sell it to the highest bidder. Instead, she chose to organize the Chaos Emerald Championship as a means of expanding her empire and creating publicity.[2] When Knuckles the Echidna's illegal addition to the tournament roster was discovered, Scratch made contact with Breezie, believing she wanted to see it. Upon seeing him, Breezie excitedly told Scratch and Grounder to keep Knuckles on the roster.[1] Later, when Knuckles arrived, he informed him that his match in the tournament was about to begin.[3]
Personality
Scratch is very arrogant in nature and sees himself above his comrades. He is sadistic and will take advantage of the opportunity to gloat at his enemies if given the chance. Despite his slight intelligence, Scratch is easily tricked, easily distracted and has a very short temper.
Trivia
- Scratch's design in the Post-Super Genesis Wave timeline is a combination between his original design and the badnik it was based from, Clucker.
