Sega Genesis Collection, known as Sega Mega Drive Collection in PAL regions, is a video game compilation of twenty-eight Sega titles originally released for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, with two of them being from the Sonic the Hedgehog game series. It was developed by Digital Eclipse and released for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable by Sega. A downloadable version for the PlayStation Vita has also been released.

In addition to the aforementioned games, Sega Genesis Collection also includes five unlockable classic Sega arcade games, with different sets of arcade games for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable versions, museum menus, and extras.

An updated version of the game, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. was later released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Gameplay[]

Each game in Sega Genesis Collection supports save states, allowing players to resume exactly where they left off. Each game also has a Museum page with history, trivia pieces, tips, facts and strategies about the games, and box artwork scans. The compilation also includes an Extras page containing unlockable content such as interviews with developers developer about the individual games, trailers for then-upcoming Sega titles, a "Sega Cheat Sheet" feature that consists of cheat codes for most games in the compilation, and additional arcade games.

In Sonic Genesis Collection, there have been a few emulation problems. This includes the screen flashing when Sonic goes underwater in Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit). There has also been discovered some sound effect issues. This includes the revving sound for the Spin Dash and the Special Stage music in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit), the missing music for when the Power Sneakers are obtained, the different sound effect for the Star Handle in Ristar, as well as other sound effects in other games that are either different of missing all together, such as in Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium where the "Victory Music" is not playing at the end of a battle.
