History/Role in the Movie
Sara and her father are held captive by Dr. Robotnik in the beginning of the film in order for Robotnik to lure Sonic to South Island. After Sonic and Tails leave, Sara amuses herself with playing video games with Robotnik, but kept on losing (which at first resulted in her throwing a fit). After eventually getting tired of video games, Sara wishes to go for a drive and starts throwing a childish tantrum when Robotnik refuses. At that moment Metal Robotnik crashes into the Presidential House, and Sara grows excited and demands that Robotnik give her a ride in it, entering the control panel and playing around. Later on in the movie Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles go to the core of Robotropolis where, after a small series of events, Dark Eggman appears, eventually crumbling, revealing Dr. Robotnik and Sara in it. Knuckles falsely accuses Sara of being behind his scheme, and in reply she cries hysterically and reveals that "The robot and the machine going haywire were all part of Robotnik's evil scheme," which Robotnik does not deny.
After Metal Sonic appears Sonic, Tails and Knuckles go to the Ice Cap, where Sara is being held captive for a forced marriage at the North Pole. (Dr. Robotnik's main goal in the movie is to destroy the world, leaving only he and Sara to marry and have children together, repopulating the world. Sara is repulsed and angered by the idea of becoming Robotnik's bride, so she screams and proceeds to "scratch" him. Before this, however, Robotnik gifts her with a beautiful wedding dress.
During the fight with Metal Sonic and Sonic, Metal Sonic's head crashes through the bottom of Robotnik's ship, causing him to look up her skirt. When Robotnik tries to grab Sonic his ship tilts causing Sara to fall but is saved by Knuckles. She thanks him and kisses him on cheek causing him to blush and "freeze up." Throughout the rest of the movie Sara stays with Knuckles and Tails as they watch Sonic and Metal Sonic fight. She also kisses Knuckles to help encourage him to help her father.
Sara appears to be something of a cat girl. She looks mostly human, but she has a cat tail (which was kept out of the Archie Comics for unknown reasons; possibly an error) and wears a hat that looks like cat ears. Sara's outfit consists of a yellow mini skirt with a matching midriff-baring top, a belt, a pink jacket with pink shoes, red gloves, and pink sort of covering on her ears with a large jewel on it. Later on in the movie, she wears a wedding dress that is short, has yellow trimming with a giant bow in the back of it, and has a white covering on her head with flowers on it.
As the daughter of the President, Sara is quite spoiled. She always expects to get her own way, throwing tantrums when she is beaten at a video game and even cajoling her kidnapper (Robotnik) to take her out for a drive when she's bored. She's also slightly selfish, claiming to Sonic that she doesn't care about Robotnik or even her own father's safety, and that she really wishes him to go to Robotropolis "for the two of them" and their relationship. She is not above using her femininity to get her way, for example kissing Knuckles to persuade him to help her father.
Sara has made only single appearance in Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog issue 101, as a captive of Robotnik inside of a tube. Robotnik tells her to marry him and become his queen, to which she denies to, stating he smells like rotten eggs. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles attempt to break through an armada of Metal Robotniks to free Sara. It is then realized that time had changed temporarily thanks to Knuckles' attempting to change history.
- Sara is actually translated into "princess" in the Hebrew language, therefore making her whole name "Princess Sara" redundant.
