The Shutterbugs are fly-based Badniks whose bodies are designed after a camera. They are mainly navy blue with a pair of light blue wings and four light blue legs each. They also have a giant camera lens on their mouths, a pair of blue eyes, and a large round flash on their foreheads that they use to flash brightly at their opponents.
Overview
Shutterbug appears in both Acts of Studiopolis Zone. In gameplay, they simply glide around the playable characters in midair (similar to the Whisps in Sonic the Hedgehog 2) and take picture of them. While their picture-taking skills are nice, it is not enough for the player, as a simple Spin Jump will defeat these Badniks. Upon their destruction, they release an Animal.
Powers and abilities
Thanks to their wings, Shutterbugs are capable of flight. Their design also allows them to take pictures, like actual cameras.
Trivia
Allowing a Shutterbug to take a picture of the player ten times awards the player with the "The Most Famous Hedgehog in the World" Achievement/Trophy in Sonic Mania.
"Shutterbug" is not only a nod to the word "shutter" (the act of taking a picture by using light to capture a permanent image), but it also defines an avid amateur photographer.
